Female Invest is on a mission to help women grow their wealth. For this design challenge, I was tasked with creating a feature that empowers members to align their investments with their values—by making impact data clear, intuitive, and actionable.
Guiding assumptions
- Education and community are cornerstones of the current platform that should carryover to this new feature.
- Once an investment arm of the business does exist this feature should seamlessly connect the educational and investing sectors of the business.
Approach
- Market/user research (via an online survey with target market)
- Ideation + wire-framing
- Testing assumptions and acquring feedback on my approach
- Refinement + hi-fi design
Insights + goals
My design approach was shaped by the following goals to ensure the feature felt intuitive, valuable, and aligned with the overall platform:
- Seamless integration:
Fit naturally into the existing product with minimal onboarding required.
- Personalized experience:
Adapt to users’ goals and varying levels of investing experience.
- Progressive learning:
Present key concepts at a glance, with options to learn more and go deeper.
- Supportive design:
Offer accessible guidance for members.
- Engaging and on-brand:
Make the experience enjoyable, aligned with the platform’s tone and visual identity.
The solution:
Part one:
An onboarding survey where users can learn about impact investing and set their investment intentions. This will allow us to understand what “investor level” the user fits into so that we can personalize their in-app experience as well as understand what kinds of investments would be interesting to them.
Part two:
A user friendly and intelligent database that will help members discover investments that align with their values.
- Recommend companies based on preferences and goals set in the survey
- Curate discovery portfolios (like Spotify does playlists) - Climate,Health, Female Founded, etc.
- Once the investment platform is live, we can help members track their goals against their investments and recommend ways to optimize.
